Morph, Partners Launch Web3 Payments Hackathon for Southeast Asia

Web3 platform Morph, alongside Blockchain4Youth and DvCode Technologies Inc., launched the “Build In! Payments” hackathon on May 18 to develop digital payment solutions for the Philippines and Southeast Asia. The initiative features a total prize pool of $3,500 USDC and is open to developers, designers, students, and startup founders.

According to a statement from the organizers, the hackathon requires teams of three to four members to build working applications rather than conceptual papers. The development phase is currently underway and concludes on May 29.

Challenge Tracks and Prizes

The competition is divided into five tracks targeting specific areas: Cross-Border Remittance, SME Payments, Payroll and B2B, FX Treasury, and x402 Agentic Payments. Each track focus addresses localized infrastructure gaps such as high remittance fees and slow merchant settlements.

The organizers announced that the grand prize consists of $1,200 USDC, a Morph ecosystem feature, and an accelerator introduction call. Five individual track winners will receive $300 USDC each, while separate $400 USDC allocations are designated for the Community Choice award and the top student or under-25 team.

Evaluation and Submission Requirements

Submissions must include a 200-word project write-up, a public demo link or repository, a two-minute demonstration video, and at least three public progress updates.

The judging criteria allocates 30% of the score to technical execution and 25% to the real-world use case. The remaining points are distributed among product design, innovation, presentation quality, and public build participation.

Technical reviews and judging will occur from June 1 to June 2, followed by an onsite awarding ceremony on June 4 at a venue to be announced.

Tournament Regulations

The event guidelines state that all submissions must be constructed during the official competition window. Existing projects are permitted only if the team integrates substantial new functionality during the sprint.

The organizers confirmed that AI-assisted development is allowed and that participants retain full ownership of their intellectual property.
