At the center of Makalu is Lithic, an AI-native smart contract language that allows intelligent computation to be executed, governed, and verified on-chain. Unlike conventional smart contract frameworks that rely on external AI services, Lithic enables structured execution lifecycles where AI processes are defined as part of the protocol itself. This allows decentralized applications to incorporate decision-making, adaptive logic, and verifiable outcomes within a deterministic framework.

Makalu also introduces an agent-based infrastructure model, where autonomous systems act as active participants within the network. These agents are capable of executing tasks, coordinating across systems, and interacting with one another in real time.
