Globe Telecom has started blocking access to several cryptocurrency exchanges that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) flagged as operating without a license in the Philippines.
This follows a similar move by PLDT. (Read more: SEC Flags 10 Unregistered Crypto Exchanges, Eyes Website Blocking)
BitPinas initially verified the blocks through multiple tests and screenshots. Dvcode founder Eli Rabadon earlier confirmed that Smart, which shares infrastructure with PLDT, had already restricted access.
The SEC released an investor advisory warning the public against ten unregistered crypto platforms. The advisory referenced the agency’s new Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) Rules and emphasized the risk to users who trade or invest through these exchanges.
