Filipinos Build No-Code AI Apps to Solve Real-World Problems at National Prompt Challenge

Close to 600 Filipinos from across the country have developed no-code AI applications aimed at solving real-world problems as part of the recently concluded National AI Prompt Design Challenge (NAIPDC), a nationwide initiative spotlighting how artificial intelligence can be made accessible to all.

Organized by Singapore-based edtech firm Straits Interactive and the Analytics and AI Association of the Philippines (AAP), the competition gathered students and professionals from more than 20 industries and 40 schools, spanning Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Quezon, and beyond, to build generative AI-powered tools without writing a single line of code.

The presence of finalists from provincial areas was a highlight of the challenge, which organizers saw as a step toward democratizing AI access across the country. They emphasized that this supports ongoing efforts to close regional innovation gaps and equip the wider workforce for an AI-powered future.

The NAIPDC has shown that prompt engineering, paired with domain expertise, can lead to incredibly powerful and relevant AI solutions, empowering Filipinos from all backgrounds to innovate and transform their respective industries.”

Straits Interactive also highlighted that participants created tools to enhance workplace productivity, gamified apps to make coding education more engaging, and AI-powered cultural bots that promote Filipino history and traditions. The competition also emphasized the importance of prompt engineering as a foundational skill, framing it as key to unlocking AI’s potential in a broad range of sectors.

Moreover, the media release added that the NAIPDC showcased how Straits Interactive’s Capabara platform empowers nontechnical users to create custom AI tools without coding. Its no-code interface and support for various large language models (LLMs) helped participants quickly turn ideas into working applications, boosting AI adoption across industries.

The media release noted that the initiative highlights a growing interest in generative AI and prompt engineering in the Philippines. The event showed how nontechnical individuals can create applications that address industry pain points, government inefficiencies, and educational gaps.

The NAIPDC will culminate in a virtual closing ceremony and app showcase on Aug. 1, to be streamed live on Facebook.

• Export Buddy – An AI assistant that helps aspiring Filipino exporters through every step of the export process, offering round-the-clock guidance from preparation to post-export support.
• BldgGuide PH – A chatbot that helps building owners and contractors understand and follow the Philippine Building Code, making it easier to get permits and follow regulations.
• Kuya FReady – A localized chatbot that guides young Filipinos step-by-step in applying for government IDs and official documents.

• Work Productivity Tools – Apps like AI-powered email writers and business planners that improve efficiency and support innovation.
• AI Tutors – Personalized learning tools such as CodeQuest, which turns coding lessons into games to make them more fun and effective.
• Diagnostic and Analysis Tools – AI solutions for tasks like pest detection and financial planning, showing how AI can help even in specialized fields.
• Cultural Education Apps – AI tools that teach Filipino history and culture, including virtual guides featuring local heroes and traditions.

Recent Updates with AI in PH

Recently, Mapúa University launched the Philippines’ first Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence Engineering, a pioneering program designed to meet the growing demand for AI talent. Offered under the School of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering, the course covers machine learning, data analytics, robotics, and natural language processing, while integrating ethical and environmental considerations. It prepares students for careers in AI engineering, big data, and software development, both locally and globally.

More on the side of web3, Red Bull Philippines partnered with Agent Daredevil, an autonomous AI agent built for sports prediction and running fully on the blockchain. The collaboration marks the first time a major global brand has endorsed a fully on-chain AI agent, positioning Daredevil as both a digital athlete and entertainment platform.

Last month, Filipino blockchain leaders called for urgent national adoption of AI, warning that failure to do so could leave the Philippines behind in the rapidly evolving digital economy.

• Sovrun CEO Renz Chong emphasized that AI is already impacting key sectors like BPO, and urged stronger government–private sector collaboration, AI education, and startup support across the country.
• SparkPoint CEO Ismael Jerusalem, after attending SuperAI Singapore 2025, noted that serious builders and investors are entering the AI space, with China leading innovation in applied AI. He said Asia’s AI scene remains in its early stages, offering an opportunity for Filipino innovators to take part in shaping the future of AI-driven solutions, particularly in the blockchain space.
