Ethereum L2 blockchain network Base opened submissions for two parallel competitions aimed at spotlighting creativity and innovation in the on-chain space, the Onchain Summer Awards and the Campus Mini App Challenge, with both deadlines set in the first week of September.
The Campus Mini App Challenge invites students and developers to build creative mini-apps, with submissions closing on September 5, 2025.Â
Meanwhile, the Onchain Summer Awards, which recognize standout onchain projects across various categories, will accept entries until September 2, 2025.
The Campus Mini App Challenge, organized by Base Philippines, invited students and developers to build creative mini apps.Â
It is a month-long competition that runs throughout August 2025 aimed at showcasing the creativity of students and alumni from universities across the country in building onchain mini apps.
The challenge called for participants to create functional onchain tools, games, social dApps, or utilities using Base, with projects judged on functionality, creativity, and usability. Builders were allowed to join individually or in teams, provided at least one member is a student or graduate of a Philippine university.
As of writing, there are currently 106 submissions on the challenge.

According to the website, winners will be announced on September 12, 2025.
The Onchain Summer Awards, running from July 9 to September 2, 2025, will recognize the most innovative consumer and mini apps built on Base.Â
A total of $250,000 in prizes will be awarded across two categories:
Winners will be determined through metrics such as transaction volume, repeat user engagement, demand for Base blockspace, and Farcaster activity.Â
Teams must register on Base Build (available August 12 for mini apps and August 19 for consumer apps) for their data to be tracked.
Each week during the program, one standout app will also be featured in a live demo spotlight.Â
Final winners will be announced in early September, with standout projects also spotlighted weekly through live demos. Top builders are set to be recognized at the OCS Awards Ceremony during Basecamp this fall.
