Developers have one week left to submit their entries to the Core Connect Global Buildathon, an international web3 hackathon hosted by CoreDAO and DoraHacks.
Originally scheduled for August 10, the organizers extended the submission deadline to August 15, 2025 to give more time to developers to “refine, test, & ship your best builds on [Core blockchain] to win up to $1.2M in rewards.”
Thos who are interested can submit their applications here.
The hackathon, which began on June 2, invites global developers to build decentralized applications across key sectors such as Bitcoin finance (BTCfi), DeFi, AI-powered tools, SocialFi, gaming, and blockchain infrastructure.
In response to BitPinas, Chris Flores, Initial Contributor and currently the Philippine Lead for CoreDAO, shared that he is aware of several Filipino teams and builders who are participating in the event.
According to Flores, there are currently at least four confirmed Filipino projects participating in the buildathon, with a few more teams still finalizing their submissions.
He added that so far, feedback from the local developer community has been overwhelmingly positive. Flores noted that participants are excited not only about the $1.2 million prize pool but also about the opportunity to pitch at TOKEN2049 in Singapore before Core Ventures and over 100 venture capital firms.
He noted that the travel scholarships granted to all finalists make the global finale an especially rare and valuable opportunity for many Filipino developers.
Flores also encouraged local developers to seize the opportunity and submit their projects.
“My advice? Just go for it. Start. Build something. You’ll never know if you don’t try. Parang basketball lang yan, di ka makakashoot kung di ka titira. Opportunities like this don’t come often, and as I see on the builders’ standpoint, I really believe Filipinos can compete globally, they just got to take the shot at it.”
