CCP Games, the developer of the spaceship MMORPG EVE Online and web3 game Eve Frontier, has transitioned into an independent entity and rebranded as Fenris Creations following a $120 million USD buyout from former parent company Pearl Abyss. The transaction, which includes both cash and non-cash elements, returns the studio to a private ownership structure led by senior management and long-term investors.
The company is now governed by its own Board of Directors, a model intended to support strategic decision-making for persistent virtual worlds.
Alongside the announcement, Fenris Creations also entered a research partnership with Google DeepMind. As part of this agreement, Google has taken a minority stake in the company. The collaboration will utilize an offline version of EVE Online to study artificial intelligence capabilities, including:
The studio reported more than $70 million USD in revenue for 2025, maintaining profitability. EVE Online recorded its second-highest revenue quarter in its 20-year history during Q4 2025, which included a record-breaking month in November. The company’s current development pipeline includes two upcoming titles: EVE Vanguard, an extraction-adventure first-person shooter, and EVE Frontier, an online space survival game.
The announcement follows the recent conclusion of the EVE Frontier × Sui 2026 Hackathon, where participants created over 120 projects focused on modding the upcoming survival game. The grand prize was awarded to “CradleOS,” a civilization management system. In April 2026, the game’s infrastructure officially migrated from Ethereum to the Sui blockchain, coinciding with the launch of the “Cycle 5: Shroud of Fear” testing phase.
