Base Philippines reported establishing a builder pipeline of over 15,200 individuals and expanding its presence to 50 cities and municipalities during its first year of operations. The performance metrics were disclosed during a combined first-anniversary and Lunar New Year event held at the Coins.ph office in Taguig City, nearly two months before Coinbase announced global workforce reductions that impacted regional leadership.
During the anniversary event attended by BitPinas staff, the organization said its growth focused primarily on educational outreach and ecosystem development within the local blockchain sector. Base Philippines documented partnerships with more than 40 universities across the country, aimed at integrating blockchain curricula and supporting student-led development projects.
In addition to academic partnerships, the group organized over 100 community events during its inaugural year. According to the organization’s performance data, these initiatives resulted in the creation of 20 direct job opportunities in roles ranging from smart contract development to community management.
Base Philippines reported a cumulative financial impact of over $150,000 on the local cryptocurrency industry through its grants and development support. Jesse Pollak, creator of the Base network, noted in a recorded statement that projects such as Revalidate and Daredevil AI are examples of Filipino developers building products with global utility on the Layer 2 network.
The organization also introduced several technical and competitive frameworks intended to sustain builder engagement, including:
The local achievements were presented alongside plans for 2026, which included new builder tracks for startups and robotics integration. However, following the May 5 layoff announcement, Coinbase confirmed that regional support for the Philippines would be consolidated under its Asia-Pacific (APAC) division.
Operations for the Base ecosystem in the Philippines are now managed by Nick Tong, the Singapore-based lead for Base APAC. While the dedicated Base Philippines social media presence has been deactivated, the global Base Batches 003 accelerator program remains active, with the student and startup tracks currently proceeding toward their May 2026 demo days.
