We’ve got good news and bad news about Apple‘s upcoming foldable phone.
Chinese site UDN (via MacRumors) recently reported that Apple has “made a breakthrough” in foldable iPhone development, as it was able to achieve a “crease-free” design, meaning the phone’s display wouldn’t have a visible crease when fully unfolded. This should be a big selling point for the iPhone Fold when it launches next year, the report says.
This is good news, given that some recent reports said the foldable iPhone might get pushed into 2027. The report also confirmed that the phone’s name will, indeed, be “iPhone Fold.”

Unfortunately, the iPhone Fold might come at a pretty high price point. Fubon Research analyst Arthur Liao says the phone will cost $2,399, significantly more than some previous estimates.
We’ve seen several earlier reports on what the iPhone Fold will cost, though, and the price ranges from $1,800 to $2,500, so this latest report still falls into that range.
The report also shares some details on what the iPhone Fold could be like. It claims that the Fold will not be getting the fancy variable aperture lens (that’s reserved for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro), but it will have dual rear and dual front cameras.
